Upcoming Band Concerts & Events
Broken Arrow Wind Band Camp - Feb 21 & 22 The Broken Arrow Bands are hosting their first annual Wind Band Camp on February 21 & 22 at the BAHS Fine Arts Facility. The BAHS Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band 1 students will participate in this year’s event and feature concentrated instruction from Clinician, Master Conductors, and Professional Musician Section Coaches. This 2 day immersive Wind Band Camp provided opportunities for our students to work with world class guest artists and musicians, while giving the concert season a “shot in the arm†to boost musicianship and leadership skills. On Friday Feb 21, the WE & SB1 will be in Wind Band Camp from 4:00-8:00pm, and resume on Saturday Feb 22 from 8:30am-3:30pm. The event will conclude with a concert by both groups in the BAHS Band Hall (not the BAPAC) with our guest conductors leading the performances. The Concert at the BAHS Band Hall will be on Saturday, Feb 22 at 3:30-4:30pm. This concert is free and open to the public. (Note: Final Schedule and times are subject to change based on final scheduling. Check the upcoming eNews editions for updated info) Solo and Ensemble Festival - March 2 The Broken Arrow Solo and Ensemble Festival will be held at BAHS Fine Arts Facility. This event is free and open to public. We encourage all family and friends to join us on March 2. Performance schedule will be released and publicized in eNews once the scheduling process is completed. The first performances begin at approximately 5:00pm and conclude by 8:00pm. 2020 Pride Information - Horn Line: Auditions are moved earlier in the calendar year from previous seasons. Horn Line Auditions Dates: Mar 26, 27, 30 from 6:30-8:30pm AND Mar 31 from 4:00-8:00pm - Color Guard: Training Sessions continue on Tuesday’s from 6:0-9:00pm (Feb 18, 25 and Mar 3,10). Color Guard Audition Dates: Mar 27 (5:00-9:00) AND Mar 28 (9:00-1:00) - Percussion: Dates TBD (Following end of BA Indoor Percussion Season) - Pride Leadership: Leadership applications will be available at the end of April, once horn line and guard auditions are completed. - Drum Major: Tentative Dates are April 20 (Clinic) and April 27 (Audition)...more details coming soon… BA Color Guard Winter Training All BA Color Guard members should have received info regarding the Winter Training Classes through the BA Guard Staff. If not, please contact us at brokenarrowguard@gmail.com for more info (current members only). The Winter Guard training classes are required for any returning member of the Broken Arrow Color Guard as preparation for the upcoming 2020 season. It is vital for us as a group to continue to develop and advance our skill sets prior to introducing new members into the guard following the auditions in March. Info has also been shared for purchasing rifle and sabres for weapon training. Training and classes begin January 30th (5-9pm) and continue weekly. Winter training class fee is $125 to cover the costs of instruction. Also, as a reminder all student accounts must be current for continued participation. Spring High School Band Trips We are thrilled that all 5 High School Concert Bands will travel to participate in World Class Concert Band Events outside the State of Oklahoma. All trips are required as part of each students enrollment in the Performance Based Classes of the High School Concert Bands. Games are assigned by class / group. Should a student be enrolled in more than one band class, they must perform at the corresponding game to fulfill their band class requirement for each class they are enrolled. Students may volunteer to attend additional games but no substitutions are permitted. Report time for each event is 6:00pm and students are to wear their Pride / Tradition Band T Shirt. For each session the band will play at the girls and boys varsity basketball games. Games are typically completed by approximately 9:15pm. The schedule is as follows: 12/10 - Tuesday - Concert Band 1 - COMPLETED 12/17 - Tuesday - Symphonic Band - COMPLETED 11/21 - Tuesday - Symphonic Band 2 - COMPLETED 1/31 - Friday - Wind Ensemble - COMPLETED 2/14 - Friday - Concert Band 2 - COMPLETED 2/18 - Tuesday - 2019 Pride Leadership Account Payments - Balance Due All Pride 2019 accounts are past now due. High School Wind Ensemble - Chicago Trip The BAHS Wind Ensemble will travel to Chicago for the Festival of Gold in famed Orchestra Hall of the Chicago Symphony Center. The trip will take place April 4-7. Estimated cost of the trip is $1250 per student; with a payment schedule of $250 due each month from December through April. The third payment of $250 is due by February 28. However, occasionally throughout the season, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically; parents may want to come at the end of our rehearsals to see and hear the progress of the 2020 Indoor Percussion program. THIS Monday (2/10), the Main Gym/Tiger Fieldhouse will be open to visitors during the final 30 minutes of rehearsal. Audio and Video recordings are prohibited during rehearsal and performance settings to protect the rights of the original composers and copyright owners.
