Congratulations to the HS Symphonic Band 1 - OMEA Honor Performance Members of the HS Symphonic Band 1 are to be congratulated for their terrific performance at the Oklahoma Music Educators Conference. The band performed an exceptional concert and represented our school, community and band program in a first class manner. Bravo! 2019 Pride Show Uniforms - YEE HAW! We are pleased to announce that all 2019 Pride members may keep their show uniform from 2019 season. Uniforms may be picked up from the Uniform Parents in the Uniform Room at the following dates and times (provided a student’s account is current and in good standing): - Tuesday, January 28 (5:00-7:00pm) - Wednesday, January 29 (3:00-4:30pm) BA Color Guard Winter Training All BA Color Guard members should have received info regarding the Winter Training Classes through the BA Guard Staff. If not, please contact us at brokenarrowguard@gmail.com for more info (current members only). The Winter Guard training classes are required for any returning member of the Broken Arrow Color Guard as preparation for the upcoming 2020 season. It is vital for us as a group to continue to develop and advance our skill sets prior to introducing new members into the guard following the auditions in March. Info has also been shared for purchasing rifle and sabres for weapon training. Training and classes begin January 30th (5-9pm) and continue weekly. Winter training class fee is $125 to cover the costs of instruction. Also, as a reminder all student accounts must be current for continued participation. Spring High School Band Trips We are thrilled that all 5 High School Concert Bands will travel to participate in World Class Concert Band Events outside the State of Oklahoma. All trips are required as part of each students enrollment in the Performance Based Classes of the High School Concert Bands. The band trips are as follows: Symphonic Band 1 - Music For All National Concert Band Festival - Indianapolis, IN Depart: Wednesday, March 11 Perform: Thursday, March 12 Return to BA: Sunday, March 15 *Payment Schedule: Oct 4 $200, Dec 6 $400, Jan 10, $300, Feb 7 $250 Wind Ensemble - Chicago Festival of Gold - Chicago, IL Depart: Saturday, April 4 Perform: Monday, April 6 Return to BA: Tuesday, April 7 *Payment Schedule: Dec 20 $250, Jan 31 $250, Feb 28 $250, Mar 27 $250, April 3 $250 Symphonic Band 2, Concert Band 1 & 2 - Choice Music Festival - Dallas, TX Depart: Friday, April 24 Perform: Friday, April 24 Return to BA: Saturday, April 25 *Payment Schedule: Jan 31 $75, Feb 28 $75, Mar 27 $75, Apr 17 $75 *Payment Schedule is subject to change based on Final Trip price per student Basketball Band Performances for All HS Band Members Each of the HS band classes are required to perform at the HS Basketball games. Games are assigned by class / group. Should a student be enrolled in more than one band class, they must perform at the corresponding game to fulfill their band class requirement for each class they are enrolled. Students may volunteer to attend additional games but no substitutions are permitted. Report time for each event is 6:00pm and students are to wear their Pride / Tradition Band T Shirt. For each session the band will play at the girls and boys varsity basketball games. Games are typically completed by approximately 9:15pm. The schedule is as follows: 12/10 - Tuesday - Concert Band 1 - COMPLETED 12/17 - Tuesday - Symphonic Band - COMPLETED 11/21 - Tuesday - Symphonic Band 2 1/31 - Friday - Wind Ensemble 2/14 - Friday - Concert Band 2 2/18 - Tuesday - 2019 Pride Leadership Account Payments - Balance Due All Pride 2019 accounts are past now due. High School Wind Ensemble - Chicago Trip The BAHS Wind Ensemble will travel to Chicago for the Festival of Gold in famed Orchestra Hall of the Chicago Symphony Center. The trip will take place April 4-7. Estimated cost of the trip is $1250 per student; with a payment schedule of $250 due each month from December through April. The second payment of $250 is due by January 31. Indoor Percussion Rehearsal schedule Tues 1/21 - 3:30-6:00 (No VE) Thurs 1/23 - 3:30-7:00 (No VE) Mon 1/27 - 5:00-9:00 (All) Tues 1/28 - 3:30-7:00 (No VE) Thurs 1/30 - 3:30-7:00 (No VE) WGPO- Broken Arrow Contest This Saturday, January 25th, BA will be hosting the WGPO Broken Arrow Winter Guard contest. Students will receive more additional information during rehearsals this week regarding report locations and duties. Broken Arrow Indoor will not be performing, however all BA Indoor members are assigned to the following shifts to help the event: 4:30-7:00 PM: Snares, Basses, Synths, Drumset, Aux Percussion 7:00-9:30 PM: VE, Tenors, Keyboards (Marimbas, Vibes, Xylo) Member Fees December 20th (Past Due): $200 January 10th (Past Due): $250 February 1st: $250 March 1st: $250 April 1st: $250 Checks for payments can be given to Mrs. Good or placed in the payment drop box at the HS. Percussion Ensemble Concert The annual Percussion Ensemble Concert featuring all BAHS and FA percussionists will now be on Friday, February 7th at 7:00 PM at Kirkland Theater; this is an update to the previously scheduled date. Freshman Academy Percussion Ensemble All BAFA Percussionists will have rehearsals after school on the following dates to prepare for the Percussion concert: Wednesday, 1/22: 2:30-4 PM Friday, 1/24: 2:30-4 PM Wednesday, 1/29: 2:30-4 PM Rehearsals are required for all BAFA Percussion, and all rehearsals will be held at the BAFA Band Room.
