OMEA Honor Band Performance by the HS Symphonic Band 1
The HS Symphonic Band 1 will be performing at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association (OMEA) Annual Conference as an Honor Band. This is an extremely prestigious occasion! Be sure to mark your calendar to attend the Honor Concert at the Tulsa Convention Center on Friday, January 17. Tickets are available at the door for $20 and seating is general admission for this concert. Please note: this is a ceremonious event and appropriate attire is expected. Please, no jeans or T-shirts.
OMEA Preview Honor Band Concert - Tuesday, January 14
On Tuesday, January 14 our BAHS Symphonic Band 1 and the Union HS Band will present a concert to Preview their performances for the Oklahoma Music Educators (OMEA) Conference. This concert will begin at 7:00pm at the BAPAC in the Kristin Chenowith Theatre
OMEA Convention and All State Band - January 15-18
Students that earned a coveted spot in the All OMEA Ensembles (Band, Jazz and Orchestra) will meet at the downtown Indigo Hotel on Wednesday evening (January 15). The All OMEA concerts will be held on Saturday at the Tulsa PAC (Band & Orchestra) and the Hyatt Hotel (Jazz). See the attached itineraries HERE.
Broken Arrow E-Jazz
Rehearsals for the 2020 Broken Arrow E-Jazz Band begin this week! Rehearsals will begin this Monday, January 13th from 3:15-5:00 PM in the BAHS Jazz Room (VPA 140).
BA Color Guard Winter Training
All BA Color Guard members should have received info regarding the Winter Training Classes through the BA Guard Staff. If not, please contact us at brokenarrowguard@gmail.com for more info (current members only). The Winter Guard training classes are required for any returning member of the Broken Arrow Color Guard as preparation for the upcoming 2020 season. It is vital for us as a group to continue to develop and advance our skill sets prior to introducing new members into the guard following the auditions in March. Info has also been shared for purchasing rifle and sabres for weapon training. Training and classes begin January 30th (5-9pm) and continue weekly. Winter training class fee is $125 to cover the costs of instruction. Also, as a reminder all student accounts must be current for continued participation.
Spring High School Band Trips
We are thrilled that all 5 High School Concert Bands will travel to participate in World Class Concert Band Events outside the State of Oklahoma. All trips are required as part of each students enrollment in the Performance Based Classes of the High School Concert Bands. Fundraising opportunities are available to assist students in making their monthly payments. Please contact our BABBC Fundraising Chair at BABandFundraising@gmail.com for more information. Basketball Band Performances for All HS Band Members
Each of the HS band classes are required to perform at the HS Basketball games. Games are assigned by class / group. Should a student be enrolled in more than one band class, they must perform at the corresponding game to fulfill their band class requirement for each class they are enrolled. Students may volunteer to attend additional games but no substitutions are permitted. Report time for each event is 6:00pm and students are to wear their Pride / Tradition Band T Shirt. For each session the band will play at the girls and boys varsity basketball games. Games are typically completed by approximately 9:15pm. The schedule is as follows:

High School Wind Ensemble - Chicago Trip
The BAHS Wind Ensemble will travel to Chicago for the Festival of Gold in famed Orchestra Hall of the Chicago Symphony Center. The trip will take place April 4-7. Estimated cost of the trip is $1250 per student; with a payment schedule of $250 due each month from December through April. The second payment of $250 is due by January 31.
Indoor Percussion
Rehearsal schedule for THIS week includes the following:
Monday, January 13th: 4-9 PM (Battery and Front Ensemble)
Wednesday, January 15th: 3:30-6 PM (Battery and Front Ensemble)
Thursday, January 16th: 3:30-7 PM (Battery and Front Ensemble; VE 5-7 PM)

Member Fees
Member dues for the 2020 BA Indoor Season will be $1200. The following dates are when payments are due:
December 20th (Past Due): $200

Checks for payments can be given to Mrs. Good or placed in the payment drop box at the HS.
Percussion Ensemble Concert
The annual Percussion Ensemble Concert featuring all BAHS and FA percussionists will now be on Friday, February 7th at 7:00 PM at Kirkland Theater; this is an update to the previously scheduled date.
Freshman Academy Percussion Ensemble
All BAFA Percussionists will have rehearsals after school on the following dates to prepare for the Percussion concert:
Wednesday, 1/22: 2:30-4 PM
Friday, 1/24: 2:30-4 PM
Wednesday, 1/29: 2:30-4 PM
Rehearsals are required for all BAFA Percussion, and all rehearsals will be held at the BAFA Band Room.

Happy New Year!
I know we all are excited about the many wonderful opportunities available for our students in 2020. The next few months will be filled with concert performances and contests, and include trips both in and out ofstate. To support these activities, parents will have opportunities to serve, including hospitality for concerts, chaperoning trips, planning and organizing the annual Pride banquet, and fundraising. We understand that many of you are anxious for more details regarding trip itineraries, costs, andfundraising plans. We will be getting that information out as soon as it becomes available. In the meantime, continue to take advantage of the various opportunities provided by our fundraising team.

WGPO will hold a competition on Jan. 25th, 2020 at BAHS. We need volunteers to work and help guide our guests that day. The event will be from 6-9pm and we need volunteers from 5:00-9:30 at the latest. We need people to be guides, ushers, ticket takers and concessions. We have some positions available for students who would like to get their NHS hours too. Please take the time to sign upusing the link below.

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - Please email the fundraising email if you would like to purchase chocolate. Chocolate will be available for purchase at the Tuesday band parent meeting at 6:00pM before the meeting and again after the meeting ends. Remember, it is $60 per box paid upfront, with half of that going into your child's account. Cash/checks for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted correctly; you will have already paid the profit upfront. Indoor Percussion preorder forms for shirts, decals and buttons will be available soon. The deadline for Indoor preorders is January 31st. This is a hard deadline so please don’t delay ordering. There will not be a lot of extras ordered so please plan accordingly. Indoor Percussion fees do not include shirts or buttons for the students. You will need to buy them if interested.
