Another AMAZING Week of Pride Camp!
The 2018 Pride of Broken Arrow had another amazing week of rehearsals! The Pride is certainly off to a great start and the initial learning of the show is well underway. Parents may want to come to the stadium at the end of our evening rehearsal on Tuesday to see and hear the progress the Pride has already made. The stadium will be open to family members during the final 30 minutes of rehearsal on Tuesday this week (no photos or videos please).


Pep Band Performance THIS MONDAY MORNING (8/6)
All VETERAN Pride Horn line and Percussion will perform a brief pep rally at COM (Central on Main) for all new teachers to BA Schools. Wear you black Pride T shirt. Report to COM by 8:15am and the performance will be finished by approximately 9:00am.



NOTES:

• - Broken Arrow HS is a closed campus. Members may not leave the campus during a meal break.
• - Students and parents may not park in Loading Dock lanes for Faculty Parking lots (ie. lot west of the aux gym)
• - NO Drop offs are permitted in the Loading Dock Lanes to the west of the Band Hall.
  
• - It is a very demanding time of year. The kids and staff are working very hard to achieve excellence. As parents, we can help in many ways. One important example is to arrive on time to pick up the kids. Kids and staff will appreciate your timeliness.
• - All rehearsals are closed until notice is made for open rehearsals for the end of a stadium rehearsal session.
• - Members should bring: sunscreen, hat, food for meal break, iced water jug, and all items needed for rehearsal

**Meal breaks are subject to change based on the daily rehearsal shedule.  Changes will be communicated to the students via "Remind" and on Facebook.**



Schedule Pickup (Passport to Success)
The following are available times for students to pick up their schedules and coordinate with the mandatory Pride Camp:

• Seniors - Wed, Aug 8 from prior 10:00am OR during their meal break
• Juniors - Thurs, Aug 9 Hornline prior 10:00 OR during their meal break; Guard and Percussion AFTER morning rehearsal is finished.
• Sophomores - Fri, Aug 10 Hornline and Perc any time during the day; Guard will go AFTER morning rehearsal is finished
• Freshman - Fri, Aug 10 Hornline and Perc any time during the day; Guard will go to Freshman Academy AFTER morning rehearsal on Thursday OR Friday is finished from 12:00-2:00 (FA will keep Schedule Pick up OPEN until 2:00 on Thursday AND Friday for Pride Color Guard)

Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, our Pride rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically. The first open rehearsal will take place this week on Tuesday (subject to change) during the final 30 minutes of rehearsal. More details as next week’s schedule is finalized.

FUNCTIONS
Special Diets. If your student has a special diet that should be considered during feedings this season, please let us know by registering that information through this LINK .

Uniform alterations are in full swing. We will be working beginning at 5:30 p.m. every evening in the band or orchestra room. We will train you. Many hands make much lighter work. Bring scissors, pins, and sewing machines if you have them.

SPECIAL EVENTS


The 2018 DCI Tour of Champions was a tremendous success thanks to the help of more than 150 wonderful volunteers. Thank you again for those who donated time and energy for the event.

BA FAMILY DRUG - BUMMER PICK-UP HAPPENING NOW!
BA Family Drug will once again support the Pride by offering bummers to those rookie and other band students who need one. FYI to rookie parents, the kids wear these bummers in band camp while learning drill. BA Family Drug North and South Locations.

NEW! BUFFALO WILD WINGS DINE OUT NIGHT - MONDAY, AUGUST 20 - 5 TO 9PM
This fundraising event will be Monday, August 20 from 5-9PM at Buffalo Wild Wings at 1151 North 20th Street in Broken Arrow Hills location. The Pride of BA will receive 10% of proceeds! SONIC CARDS FUNDRAISER - We have only 5 Sonic cards left.  Contact Debbie by calling or texting her if you have her number already or emailing her at  BABandFundraising@gmail.com to get that info to arrange a time to purchase them. The cards must be pre-paid, and the cost is $5 per card.  Cards will sell for $5, so they are 100% profit to your student account. Available on a first come basis, and when they are gone, they are gone.


DISCOUNT CARDS - The due date for the discount cards and money to be turned in has passed; discount cards are now PAST DUE. Any that have not yet been returned must be returned ASAP. (Remember, separated cards may not be returned.) Any cards or money not returned by the August 14 band parent meeting will have student accounts charged per the agreement that was signed when the cards were checked out; the charges will remain even if the cards or money are turned in after that date.  They can be turned in to Mrs. Good in the band office or to Debbie with Fundraising. 


CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - The next opportunity to purchase chocolate will be at the August band parent meeting.  Note: Chocolate is ONLY sold during scheduled fundraiser pickup dates/times and band parent meetings.  Cash/checks for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted to Charms that way; you will have already paid the profit upfront. FALL FLOWERS FUNDRAISER - Our August fundraiser will be fall flowers. It will include a variety of colors of mums and pansies. This fundraiser begins at the band parent meeting on August 14.

PHONE CORD FUNDRAISER - Another August fundraiser will be Cords of Steel phone cords. There are options depending on the phone. These are flexible stainless steel cords with alloy charging heads; they plug into your phone at a right angle rather than coming straight out. They come with a lifetime warranty, and come in a variety of colors. These cords are amazing! This fundraiser begins at the band parent meeting on August 14, and we will have a sample cord there.

::::::: PLEASE READ ::::::: - You MUST include your contact information (email address and phone number) on ALL fundraiser order forms before turning them in (even if the form doesn't ask for that info). Also, if you are not receiving our fundraising emails already and you participate in fundraising at all, you need to be added to that email list because that is the best way to receive current news about fundraisers; please ask to be added to that email list if you are not already on it.

PRIDE WORK - Earn Money For Your Band Trip Account - There are so many ways to earn money for your band trip account! Start earning money now for the 2018 marching season.

Many of these opportunities go quickly. The work sign-ups are sent via email to those on the Pride Work email list. Please ask to get on the Pride Work email list by writing to bapridework@gmail.com.

You can stop by to get a fitting and order your Pride Jacket! Please bring your student with you to order so they can try on samples to get the correct size.
***Remember this is the only jacket that may be worn with the Pride uniform.***
*If you want your jacket before BOA in St Louis or State Championship OBA (both in October), please order before August 31!
*Pride Jackets are $235.27 and require a $50 deposit when ordering. Balance is due when jacket is picked up.
*The price includes the jacket with graduation year on sleeve, BA Pride logo on back, student name and instrument embroidered on right chest, and a "letter" sewn on after your student receives it from their Director.
