Drums of Summer - DCI Show in Broken Arrow
The 2018 DCI Show hosted in Broken Arrow will be on Tuesday, July 17 at BA's Memorial Stadium. This year’s event features the top DCI groups from last season’s DCI World Championship: Blue Devils, Santa Clara Vanguard, Bluecoats, Boston Crusaders, Blue Knights, Phantom Regiment, and The Cavaliers. WOW!! What an amazing line up.

NEW INFO for ALL PRIDE MEMBERS! All Pride members may receive free General Admission Access to the DCI Drums of Summer. This offer applies to all current 2018 members and can't be traded, upgraded or refunded from a previous purchase. We hope to see all of our Pride members at this amazing event. Pride members will need an ID to gain stadium entry. There will also be a free Leadership Workshop at 5:30 in the Indoor Facility by DCI’s Fran Kick.


Pride Camp Begins!
The full Pride of Broken Arrow Marching Band begins their camp on Monday, July 23. Please be sure to continue conditioning your body for the intense Broken Arrow weather and heat! Each Horn Line and Percussion member must wear a White T-Shirt, proper marching shoes, have a water cooler, sunscreen and a hat. NOTE: Broken Arrow HS is a closed campus. Members may not leave the campus during a meal break. A detailed schedule will go out this week in a special edition eNews.


Broken Arrow High School is a Closed Campus
As a reminder, BAHS is a closed campus. That would prevent students from leaving the campus during meal breaks. Members should plan accordingly to either bring their meal OR make arrangements to have their meals delivered to them at BAHS. However, during guard rehearsals that are “split" in the day (8:00-12:00 AND 5:00-9:00), guard members are ENCOURAGED to leave the HS campus during the 'middle of the day' to rest.


Oklahoma Heat
Heat Stress Wow! It’s HOT!! Without fail, the Oklahoma summer heat WILL be upon us. The Pride staff would like to assure all parents of our commitment to the members physical well being. Due to the nature of activities like marching band and football practice, we are constantly exposed to the heat and it is important that we all take precautions:

  • Drink plenty of water or Gatorade/Powerade BEFORE REHEARSAL (avoid caffeinated beverages or “monster” drinks)
  • Eat a nutritional meal (particularly breakfast)
  • Wear light & loose fitting, comfortable clothing
  • During water breaks at rehearsal drink more water/Gatorade...even if you’re not thirsty
  • Use sunscreen and keep your head covered
  • Get acclimated to the outdoors. Plan some outdoor activities, in moderation, to prepare yourself for the summer heat.




Pride Summer Conditioning - Every Tuesday and Thursday!!
Pride Summer Conditioning Sessions will continue each Tuesday and Thursday until we begin the Pride Camp on July 23. However, we will NOT have conditioning sessions on Tuesday, July 17.

Band Finance Office - Charms
Charms accounts are ready for all Pride members. Login is "brokenarrowband" and your password is your student's ID#. Payments can be made via PayPal through Charms, but PayPal will charge a 3.5% service fee. Cash, Credit Card and Check payments can be made to the Fine Arts Finance Office during regular business hours, mailed to the school, or dropped into the payment box in the hallway near the orchestra room. Please visit Charms info pages to update your personal information where it is lacking and register your volunteer hours. This will keep us in touch with you. The first payment of $200 is PAST due. The June payment is $400. Band Summer Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 9:00-4:00pm. NOTE: The additional Color Guard fee will be $200.

Attendance Communication - Attendance@BrokenArrowPride.com
All members must communicate all Pride absences by emailing attendance@BrokenArrowPride.com Please remember that ALL rehearsal and performances are mandatory beginning July 23. All mini camp and rehearsal sessions prior to July 23 will allow absences based on vacation or attendance to a ‘camp’ (music camp, church camp, etc), however, ALL absences must be communicated in advance. NOTE: The Color Guard Dance Project and Performances are posted.


Pride Physicals Due by July 20 - THIS WEEK!!
All Pride members must have a new physical on file for the 2018 season. You may choose the physician of your choice BUT MUST SUBMIT THE ATTACHED 2 PAGE OSSAA FORM. The BA Bands intend to host a physical session with one of our sponsors onsite at BAHS in the month of June or July; however, ALL physical forms must be submitted to the Mrs. Good in the band office no later than July 20.


Online Participation Forms - Rank One
Online participation forms are ready for the 2018-2019 season. You must have your student’s ID number to finish online forms. Visit the Rank One website HERE. Begin at the “Home” tab, which will guide you through the process. All electronic forms and physical forms are due by July 23rd. The OSSAA physical forms must be printed and completed by your physician and are due in person to Mrs. Good by July 23rd OR SOONER. If you have any question regarding Rank One, contact Lisa Good in the band office – lsgood@baschools.org.

Our next band parent meeting will be on Tuesday, August 14 in the High School Band Hall at 7:00pm.

SPECIAL EVENTS


2018 DCI Tour of Champions - Broken Arrow will host the 2018 DCI Tour of Champions on Tuesday, July 17th at the Broken Arrow Memorial Stadium.

Walk-up ticket sales begin at 3:00pm, gates open at 6:00pm and the event begins at 7:30pm. Thank you to everyone who has committed to help with this event. A list of volunteer assignments and report times was emailed on Saturday and can be found HERE.  Please let us know if you signed up to help and did not receive the email. Please make every effort to report on time. Everyone’s participation is important to provide a first - class experience for the visiting corps, event officials, and event attendees.

Great OPS turnout for the carwash yesterday - and now on to DCI!!  We have a prep meeting tomorrow, MONDAY, JULY 16th at 7pm (storage room / east end of the main gym / floor level)  Objectives: sort traffic signs, hang stadium banners, confirm DCI assignments.

BA FAMILY DRUG - BUMMER PICK-UP HAPPENING SOON!
BA Family Drug will once again support the Pride by offering bummers to those rookie and other band students who need one. FYI to rookie parents, the kids wear these bummers in band camp while learning drill. BA Family Drug will have these ready for pick up soon. When available, they may be picked up at the North and South BA Family Drug locations. We will keep you posted on enews and social media as to when they are ready.

If you see any of these emails in your Junk or Spam folder, add the email address for those emails to your contact list. That should ensure you receive future emails correctly. SONIC CARDS FUNDRAISER - We still have Sonic cards available for purchase - no limit to how many you can purchase!  Contact Debbie by calling or texting her if you have her number already or emailing her at  BABandFundraising@gmail.com to get that info to arrange a time to purchase them. The cards must be pre-paid, and the cost is $5 per card.  Cards will sell for $5, so they are 100% profit to your student account. Available on a first come basis, and when they are gone, they are gone.


DISCOUNT CARDS - Discount cards are still available for checking out!  To pick up discount cards outside of scheduled fundraiser pickup dates/times, please contact Debbie Gowriluk at BABandFundraising@gmail.com. This is the ONLY fundraiser we offer that you do not pay for upfront.  IMPORTANT UPDATE: This fundraiser is scheduled to end on July 31. Many still have cards checked out since April with no money or cards returned yet; please remember that these cards and/or money need to be returned by July 31, or student accounts will be charged per the agreement that was signed when the cards were checked out.  They can be turned in to Mrs. Good in the band office or to Debbie with Fundraising. 


CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - The next opportunity to purchase chocolate will be at the August band parent meeting.  Note: Chocolate is ONLY sold during scheduled fundraiser pickup dates/times and band parent meetings.  Cash/checks for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted to Charms that way; you will have already paid the profit upfront. JULY FUNDRAISER - There will not be a new individual account fundraiser for July. The Rustic Cuff fundraiser scheduled for July was canceled due to a lack of participation in the past two summer fundraisers - we couldn’t guarantee to meet the minimums needed to order. The next fundraiser will be in August.


::::::: PLEASE READ ::::::: - You MUST include your contact information (email address and phone number) on ALL fundraiser order forms before turning them in (even if the form doesn't ask for that info). Also, if you are not receiving our fundraising emails already and you participate in fundraising at all, you need to be added to that email list because that is the best way to receive current news about fundraisers; please ask to be added to that email list if you are not already on it.

Need a car wash? Each time the code 1219 is entered, the BA Bands program gets 20% of the sale at Legends Car Wash at Kenosha and Aspen (2300 W. Kenosha). PRIDE WORK - Earn Money For Your Band Trip Account - There are so many ways to earn money for your band trip account! Start earning money now for the 2018 marching season.

Many of these opportunities go quickly. The work sign-ups are sent via email to those on the Pride Work email list. Please ask to get on the Pride Work email list by writing to bapridework@gmail.com.
