BAHS Wind Ensemble at the Oklahoma Music Educators Conference
Congratulations to the BAHS Wind Ensemble for their recent outstanding performance at the Oklahoma Music Educators Association annual conference! A free digital copy of Broken Arrow’s Honor Band Program Booklet can be found at BrokenArrowPride.com/program. Additionally, professionally recorded and licensed audio and video recordings may be purchased directly with ViaMedia at their website at ViaMediaPro.com.


Congratulations to the NBDA Jr. High Honor Band Members!
This past weekend students from grades 7-9 auditioned for placement into the Northeastern Band Directors Association Jr. High Honor Bands. Congratulations to all of our BA students that auditioned and earned a position in the Honor Bands. These NBDA students will rehearse in the Honor Bands on Feburuary 23 & 24 at Union HS. Audition Results may be found on the NBDA website at NBDAok.org.


Pride Banquet Date coming soon
We are still finalizing the banquet date. With so many school wide events that continue to add to the school calendar, it has been extremely tedious to lock in a date that minimizes other school conflicts and match with hotel site availability. Date and Ticket Information will be available soon. This will be an amazing event to celebrate all of the successes of the season.


Basketball Band Performances for All HS Band Members
Each of the HS band classes are required to perform at the HS Basketball games. Games are assigned by class / group. Should a student be enrolled in more than one band class, they must perform at the corresponding game to fulfill their band class requirement for each class they are enrolled. Students may volunteer to attend additional games but no substitutions are permitted. Report time for each event is 6:00pm and students are to wear their Pride / Tradition Band T Shirt. For each session the band will play at the girls and boys varsity basketball games. Games are typically completed by approximately 9:15pm. The schedule is as follows:

  • Tuesday, Dec 12 - Symphonic Band 1
  • Tuesday, Jan 9 - Symphonic Band 1
  • Friday, Jan 12 - Concert Band 1
  • Tuesday, Jan 23 - Concert Band 2
  • Friday, Jan 26 - Symphonic Band 2
  • Friday, Feb 2 - Wind Ensemble
  • Friday, Feb 9 - Wind Ensemble


Indoor Percussion
Rehearsal schedule for the week includes the following:
Monday, January 29th: 5:00-9:00 PM
Tuesday, January 30th: 3:30-7:00 PM
Thursday, February 1st: 3:30-7:00 PM

Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion fees for the 2018 season are $1300.
Students should have paid $500 in their accounts to date.
Payment due dates for fees are due on the following dates:
February 15th- $250
March 15th- $250
April 15th- $300


Closed and Open Rehearsals
As always, Indoor Percussion rehearsals are closed to the public. However, in these beginning stages of learning the show, we will open rehearsal to family and friends periodically; parents may want to come at the end of our rehearsals to see and hear the progress Indoor Percussion has already made.THIS Monday (1/29), the Main Gym/Tiger Fieldhouse will be open to visitors during the final 45 minutes of rehearsal.

- All Pride accounts should be paid to zero. Credit card payments can now be made in the band office with Mrs. Good. Credit cards can be used for student accounts, Pride Store purchases, and other fees. As always, credit payments may be made through Charms and will automatically post to your students Charms ledgers. Payments can also be mailed to BA Bands, BAHS, 1901 E. Albany, Broken Arrow, OK, 74012.

Volunteer Grants: Did you know that some companies pay volunteer grants for their employees who volunteer hours for organizations. Is your company one of those? Do you work for Walmart, DirecTV, IBM or State Farm? Those are 4 companies of the many who offer volunteer grants. Check with your HR department! This is a great opportunity that allows your hard work to benefit BA Bands! Most of these grants are around $500. Turn your volunteer hours into money!

CHECK YOUR JUNK MAIL FOR BA BANDS E-MAILS! Please check your Spam or Junk mail folder for emails from any BA Bands email addresses. These include but are not limited to: BAConcessions@gmail.com; bapridework@hotmail.com; BABandFundraising@gmail.com;; BASpecialEvents@gmail.com; and BAStadiumCleanup@gmail.com.

If you see any of these emails in your Junk or Spam folder, add the email address for those emails to your contact list. That should ensure you receive future emails correctly. If you wish to be removed from any of these mailing lists, send a message to the appropriate address and ask to be removed.

FUNDRAISING

GREAT NEW INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER STARTS THIS WEEK - THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 1! DETAILS WILL BE ANNOUNCED WEDNESDAY VIA FUNDRAISING EMAIL ONLY.
This fundraiser is one we’ve never done before. We will announce the fundraiser on Wednesday sometime after 6PM via the fundraising email ONLY.
Here is important information to know right now:

  • Please be sure and check your email on Wednesday evening for all of the details about the fundraiser.
  • This fundraiser will require payment in full upfront on Thursday as is normal procedure for most fundraisers. (Cash or check)
  • This fundraiser will be distributed on Thursday evening beginning at 7:15PM in the band hall.
If you are not on the fundraising email list, please write us BEFORE Wednesday at noon at babandfundraising@gmail.com to be added.

HYBRIDLIGHT INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER ENDS THIS WEEK-WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 31
Please turn forms and money in on or before end of day Wednesday this week! Please turn it into the payment locker at the high school, or to Mrs. Good in the BAHS band office directly. No late orders please. Be sure to mark on the order form which account you are fundraising for - Pride or Indoor; if it is not selected, it will be marked for Pride.
You can still sell them until Wednesday even if you haven’t started yet! You sell to customers for only $30. Your profit margin to your student accounts is 50%, meaning you will get $15 for your account from each flashlight you sell.

THANKS FOR PARTICIPATING IN MARBLE SLAB CREAMERY DINE OUT NIGHT!
Thanks to everyone who participated in the Marble Slab Dine Out Night this past week. Reports from the staff there said it was busy most of the evening. Thanks to all of our band families and friends….and a BIG THANK YOU to Marble Slab for supporting BA Bands! Please tell them thank you next time you are there!

GARAGE SALE IS MARCH 31! HERE ARE DONATION DROP-OFF DATES - NEED TO GET RID OF YOUR EXTRA STUFF?
We are looking for lots of donations for the Garage Sale happening on March 31. Please save items that we could use. Below are the drop-off dates when you may drop off all of your donated items. Drop-offs will be at the high school. The specific BAHS area for drop-off will be announced soon.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GARAGE SALE
We will need lots of volunteers for the Garage Sale. If you are interested in helping collect items, loading / unloading, set up, and/or helping the day of the event, please email at BABandsGarageSale@gmail.com and let us know!


BEEF JERKY STICKS - Jerky sticks are available by pre-order and pre-purchase through the band only.  We can also email you an order form if you need one or CLICK HERE to print one. Please contact Debbie at BABandFundraising@gmail.com with questions. The next order will be placed after the Frbruary band parent meeting.  NEW!!! Payment must be made IN FULL upfront (cost and profit), the same as with all other fundraisers.  This means you will need to pay &154 per case ordered, and we will turn the profit in to be applied to your student's account; you then keep the money from your sales.


CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - We have the $1 variety bar boxes, $1 caramel bar boxes, and $2 almond boxes available. Also, important to remember - if you turn in money from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets posted to Charms that way; you will have already paid the profit upfront. CLICK HERE for the chocolate fundraiser guidelines.  Chocolate will be available for sale this week the same time we launch a new fundraiser.  A fundraising email will be sent out with the date and time; make sure you have signed up to receive those emails.


::::::: PLEASE READ ::::::: - You MUST include your contact information (email address and phone number) on ALL fundraiser order forms before turning them in (even if the form doesn't ask for that info). Also, if you are not receiving our fundraising emails already and you participate in fundraising at all, you need to be added to that email list because that is the best way to receive current news about fundraisers; please ask to be added to that email list if you are not already on it.

NEXT PRIDE STORE OPEN ON FEBRUARY 13 BEFORE PARENT MEETING!

Pride Store will be open from 6:00-6:55 PM before the next parent meeting and open again after the meeting is over. We should be set up in the orchestra room, but if that changes we will let you know.We will have all pre-orders that you have not picked up from band season, including street signs. Please plan to pick these up!We will have our usual items available as well! See you there!

PRE-ORDERED STREET SIGNS ARE IN!
If you pre-ordered street signs, we will have them available for pick up at the Pride Store on February 13 before the parent meeting!

INDOOR PERCUSSION SHOW BUTTONS PRE-ORDER DATE EXTENDED TO FEBRUARY 2 -
You may still pre-order buttons for Indoor Percussion. If you have not done so, please get those in by February 2!
