BA Bands eNews
August 27, 2017 -Directors Notes-
ESPN Football Game a Huge Success Thank you to all that contributed to make last Saturday’s game such a huge success. We heard many compliments from the ESPN team that mentioned Broken Arrow provided one of the best high school experiences for a football game that they had ever seen! We can’t thank all of our volunteers enough! Our band parent volunteer team worked so hard to serve in the concession stands, provide water jugs and chaperone for the members, move equipment, and get all of the kids gloved up an in last week’s uniform. This is exactly the service it takes by our parent volunteers to make the BA Bands and Pride of Broken Arrow such a continual success from year to year. However, none of this would be possible without the efforts of our amazing band students! The members have risen to the challenges and have really been spectacular. It was a GREAT WEEK for the BA Bands and the Pride of Broken Arrow! Congratulations to our entire Band Family!!

PRESIDENTS Attention parents: Please join us this Thursday, August 31st, for a parent meet and greet. This is the perfect opportunity to get to know the other parents in your child’s section. We will meet outside the gates, near the indoor facility at 7:15 pm. Afterward, we will watch open rehearsal at 8:15. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at babpaprez@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you there!
FUNCTIONS Feeding this Friday: This Friday night will be our first feeding frenzy for the kids. If your student has special dietary concerns and you haven’t submitted those special requests, please do so at the link below and we will take care of them. Please remember that we will provide everything for their meal and we ask that nothing extra be brought to students.
Volunteer Hours: Also, please remember to add you volunteer time into charms (instructions at link below). I know many volunteer hours were worked this weekend and we need to capture them. Everyone logs their own time!
Water Jugs: Your students were given a new Pride of Broken Arrow ½ gallon water jug at the game Saturday. They MUST bring this to every football game, as this is how they will get water in the stands now. We ask that you send it full of ice on game days when they come to school, as this will help save time when refilling them before the game.
Special Diets: If your student has special dietary or medical needs, please enter them at THIS LINK.
For directions on how to update your family information and to enter volunteer hours in Charms CLICK HERE.

NEW! FALL FLOWER FUNDRAISER IS DUE NOW - Order forms and money are due Monday, August 28. They can be turned in to Mrs. Good in the band office or put in the payment locker outside the orchestra room. Delivery of flowers is scheduled for September 23; the time will be announced closer to delivery but will likely be sometime around noon.
BEEF JERKY STICKS - Jerky sticks are available by pre-order and pre-purchase through the band only; the turnaround time to get them is quick - usually about a week once we place an order (orders will be placed at the beginning of each month; the next order will be placed after the September band parent meeting). We can also email you an order form if you need one or CLICK HERE to print one. Please contact Debbie at BABandFundraising@gmail.com with questions. This is the ONLY fundraiser we offer that you will pay ONLY the cost upfront, not the profit as well, due to the cost of the sticks. You will still be responsible for turning the profit into the band office for this fundraiser.
DISCOUNT CARD FUNDRAISER HAS ENDED. PLEASE RETURN CARDS AND/OR MONEY ASAP - This fundraiser has ended and is now PAST DUE. There are still many members with cards checked out; they were due back July 31. Please turn the cards and money in to Mrs Good in the band office or put them in the payment locker outside the orchestra room (mark the envelope “discount cardsâ€). Per the agreement signed when cards were checked out, student accounts will be charged the band cost per card if the cards or money for them were not returned by July 31. We will be sending email notices to those who still have cards checked out and turning that information in to Mrs Good on August 28.
CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER - We have only chocolate covered almonds at this time. We will be returning to World’s Finest Chocolate and placing an order. We have new options with WFC; if you are interested in ordering a box of bars that is only one type, not a variety box, please email BABandfundraising@gmail.com this week and let us know. We also have the option of $2 bars (30 in a box) as well as $1 bars (60 in a box). If there is enough interest, we may purchase the larger bars or single type boxes as well as variety boxes. These will be available for purchase at the September band parent meeting.
IMPORTANT NOTES REGARDING FUNDRAISERS!!! - YOU MUST INCLUDE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION (EMAIL AND PHONE #) ON THE FUNDRAISER ORDER FORM BEFORE YOUR TURN IT IN! Without that information, we have no way to contact you if there is a problem with your order and to let you know your order has come in. We do not have access to any school records, so we cannot look up your information to be able to contact you; we rely solely on you to provide that information to us. Also, you need to let us know if you are fundraising for Pride or for Europe; if it is not specified, we will put the funds towards Pride.
For more information on ANY of the fundraisers listed above, please contact Debbie Gowriluk at BABandFundraising@gmail.com.
