Directors Notes



St. Louis BOA Super Regional Champions!
Congratulations to the Pride for their outstanding performances at the BOA Super Regional in St. Louis! The Pride finished in first place, with a St. Louis Regional Record High Score of 94.50, and was named the SUPER REGIONAL CHAMPION in the finals competition. In the Finals competition, the Pride also earned awards for Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect award. The Pride also did extremely well in the preliminary competition by winning the Class AAAA Championship, Outstanding Music Performance, Outstanding Visual Performance and Outstanding General Effect Awards. Please take a moment to congratulate a Pride member for the amazing efforts this season and continue to encourage them in their quest for performance excellence.

The staff and I could not be more proud of the students for their discipline, behavior, performances and "First Class" attitude. You made us all VERY proud. Next stop is the OBA State Marching Band Championships this Saturday at BA’s Memorial Stadium with the Pride’s preliminary performance at 3:15pm. OBA Finals begin at 7:00pm.


2 Competitions this Week
The Broken Arrow Pride will participate in 2 competitions next week. The OSSAA Regional Marching Contest will be hosted at BAHS's Memorial Stadium and feature bands in class 5A & 6A. Broken Arrow performs last at 3:15pm and admission is free to this event. The OBA Marching Championship will be hosted at Broken Arrow's Memorial Stadium on Saturday, October 29. Broken Arrow performs at 3:15pm. A detailed itinerary for this week's performance events is attached to this eNews.


Sounds of the Stadium - Pride PAC Concert
Join us in one week for a truly unique experience -- Sounds of the Stadium on Nov. 1! This concert will feature the full Pride of Broken Arrow performing all your favorites that they perform at football games, only this time in the confines of the The Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center! It's going to be loud and it's going to be a blast! And the proceeds from ticket sales go to help the Pride get to the Rose Parade, so let’s pack the BAPAC! Tickets are $10 each, and there will be two performances. Doors open for the first at 6 p.m. with the concert at 6:30, and the second performance will be at 8 p.m. with doors opening at 7:45. Tickets are available at the Broken Arrow PAC from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday to Friday. Get your ticket today and join us as we rock the BAPAC!

Next Band Parent Meeting - November 15
The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on November 15 in the BAHS Band Hall.


OBA Finals Reserved Tickets
Ticket Requests may be placed beginning Tuesday for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Section”. Tickets are $15 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest). 


Indoor Percussion Informational Meeting
It’s time to start the journey to Dayton and the WGI World Championships! There will be an info meeting for all students and parents interested in 2017 Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion on Monday, October 24 from 6:30-7:30 in the Band Hall. All members of the Pride are eligible for membership in the Drumline, Front Ensemble and (new for this year) the Visual Ensemble. The Visual Ensemble will consist of approx 14-15 students, in which all members of Pride (color guard, winds and perc) are eligible for membership. Info about auditions, rehearsal and performance schedule, trips to the Dallas Regional and World Championships in Dayton as well as a sneak peak to the 2017 program and show title will be addressed at this meeting.


All District and All State Auditions NEXT Saturday at BAHS
10th - 12th Grade Students that are auditioning for these Honor Bands will audition at BAHS on Saturday, November 5. Detailed itineraries will be distributed to students in their band classes.

FUNDRAISING

WREATH FUNDRAISER
This fundraiser will run this week and next. We will pass out information at the Indoor Percussion meeting, and have packets available after practice. We will also have them available at the Imperial Coffee and Amish Bakery fundraiser pickups this week. There will be NO late orders allowed after the due date on this fundraiser - no exceptions!!! Please make sure to get your orders in on time!

NAME RING FUNDRAISER
This fundraiser will run this week and next. These are stainless steel rings with edged with black trim and engraved with black etching. Rings are available in sizes 3-12, and can be personalized with any name up to twelve letters. We will pass out information at the Indoor Percussion meeting, and have packets available after practice. We will also have them available at the Imperial Coffee and Amish Bakery fundraiser pickups this week. These will be back in time for Christmas!

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER
There are chocolate bars and chocolate covered almonds both available. I will have them at the fundraiser pickups this week for those who need to purchase more. They are available on a first come basis.

IMPERIAL COFFEE FUNDRAISER
This fundraiser will be delivered on Wednesday and can be picked up after Pride’s performance at OSSAA (so you can watch if you are available), so approximately 3:45 until 6:30pm. Watch the Broken Arrow Band Members and Supporter Facebook page for the exact location where the pickup will be at the high school.

AMISH BAKERY FUNDRAISER

Show Buttons - We will be taking Show Button orders for TWO DAYS ONLY - Monday and Tuesday!

They will be ready on Friday. The cost is $5 each. Send an email to BABandFundraising@gmail.com letting us know the quantity and your Pride member’s name; you will pay when you pick up the buttons.

Extra Show Shirts - We will be selling the extra show shirts on Friday as well.Watch the Broken Arrow Band Members and Supporter Facebook page for the exact location and time.

Pride Jackets: You can still order your Pride Jacket at Yvonne’s by October 31 and have it back for Christmas! Total price with tax is $235.27. $50 deposit required at time of order. Balance due when jacket is picked up. The price includes the jacket with graduation year on sleeve, BA Pride logo on back, student name and instrument on right chest, BA letter sewn on after student receives it from their Director. Jackets ordered at Yvonne’s Monograms & Embroidery, Inc. located at 7844 S Elm Place, Broken Arrow, OK 74011. Closest intersection is 131st and Elm. Hours are 8am-5pm Monday-Friday. Phone 918-451-1902. It is a good idea to take your student to Yvonne’s to get sized for their jacket. There are jackets there they can try on before you order.

ROSE PARADE FUNDRAISING



Car Raffle Is in Full Swing!
WHY ISSUE CAR RAFFLE TICKETS? Because $5 of every donation goes to your individual account. The remaining proceeds will go to the group fundraising and will also be equally applied to each of your accounts. THE TOP 3 STUDENTS who issue the most ticket will get an additional $500, $250, & $150 applied to their accounts if we reach our minimum goal.

WHO NEEDS TO ISSUE TICKETS? Mr. Davis has told all of the members that they are expected to issue at least 10 tickets.

HOW DO YOU DO THIS? Students & parents can check out tickets (NO MONEY UP FRONT) at the designated times and locations shown below. Social media has been an easy way to gain interest in your tickets.  It is best to share the Official BA Bands posts on social media to make sure we are in compliance. You CANNOT use words like “selling” & “buying” or any version of those words. We suggest just you Share the post and simply state in your post “We have tickets! Let me know if you are interested”. If anyone asks “how much are they” simply reply “$20 voluntary contribution."  Full instructions are included in your raffle packet when you check them out.

  • Nov. 3rd, 7:00pm-8:00pm: Stadium Parking Lot by the Visitors Entrance
  • Nov. 8th, 6:00pm-8:00pm: In the band hall before the band parent meeting.

CONCESSIONS
Congratulations to a Fantastic Win!!

We need your help! Thursday and Friday to stock concessions.

Thursday Oct 27th we will be stocking for Friday night Football starting at 5:00pm. Come out when you can to help.

Friday Oct 28th we need help after the game to stock concessions for OBA. We will start as soon as the game is over on Friday. PLEASE come by the concessions and lend a hand to stock and prepare for Saturday’s competition.

We have 2 more High school football games left. Oct 28th and November 4th! November 4th is senior night. We want to show are appreciation to our parents of senior students and let them enjoy their child’s last night on the TIGER field. We need volunteers who do NOT have a senior to sign up for concessions, Please!!  Please sign up HERE to volunteer for concessions.
