2006 Aqua Pride Reunion - September 23 It’s time to celebrate an amazing milestone in the history of the Pride of Broken Arrow! At halftime of the Homecoming Football game on September 23rd we will honor the members of the Aqua 2006 Grand National Champion! It’s hard to believe that 10 years have passed since Broken Arrow won its First Grand National Championship! All members of 2006 Aqua Pride are cordially invited to join us in Broken Arrow on September 23rd. Events will include: halftime recognition of the 10 year anniversary of the 2006 Grand National Championship, Join the current Pride in the Band Stand for the 2nd half of the football game, and a post game reception with a viewing of the 2006 Aqua performance from Grand National Finals!
All Aqua members that are able to attend will meet at the North End Zone at the beginning of halftime and be recognized before the 2016 Pride performs at halftime. During the second half of the game we encourage you to come to the band stand and visit with each other and say hi to the band. After the game, there will be a reception in the new Fine Arts Gallery with refreshments followed by a viewing of the 2006 Grand National Finals Performance of Aqua! This should be a GREAT night!
Next Band Parent Meeting - October 11 The next meeting of the Broken Arrow Band Parents Association will be at 7:00pm on October 11 in the BAHS Band Hall.
Section Gifts As we approach our two big trips of the Pride season, I know many sections and their parents are already planning for special gifts for the member to help celebrate. We know that the Pride activity requires a significant commitment from members and their families. To help ensure that section gifts do not add to the financial burden, we ask that limit the cost of any section gifts for the entire season to $25 or less. (That limit can be over and above the cost of section shirts, if necessary). Concerning section shirts, we would like to remind all section leaders and their parents that all section shirts should be short-sleeved T's ONLY and all artwork must be approved by the directors in advance of any orders being placed.
Pride of Broken Arrow "Letter Policy": To be eligible for a letter with the Pride of Broken Arrow, a student must complete the following criteria:
1) Be selected by directors to participate in the Pride; and
2) Compete in a contest with the Pride, either by participating on field or by traveling with the band as a shadow (a shadow being defined as a student who may travel to a competition as a substitute but may not take part in an on-field performance at each event).
In addition, Pride directors may, at their discretion, choose to award a letter to a student who is named to the Pride but is unable to participate in competitions because of various circumstances.
Students who meet these criteria will be provided a letter after the first competition in which they participate or after the directors award them a letter. Until such time, a Pride jacket may be worn without a letter.
BA Homecoming Parade on Thursday All Pride members will report to the BA First United Methodist Church at College & Main Street by 4:30 for the Homecoming Parade. Pride members arrive in Full Uniform and with the equipment by 4:30 (school transportation is NOT provided for this event). The Parade will begin on Main Street at 5:00pm and (tentatively) move SOUTH on Main Street and end at the BA PAC. Pride members will need to immediately transition back to the High School to put their uniforms away in the uniform room so that the uniforms can be cleaned. Rehearsal will begin at 6:00pm and is scheduled until 9:30. Rehearsal will be open for family and friends to view beginning at 8:15.
Upcoming HS Wind Band Concert - October 3 The Broken Arrow Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Bands 1 & 2, and Concert Band 1 will present their first band concert of the school year on Monday, October 3. Additionally, the HS Percussion Ensemble will be performing a portion of their program they have been preparing for the Midwest Clinic! This concert is free to the public and will be held at the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center beginning at 7:00pm.
OBA Finals Reserved Tickets Ticket Requests may be placed beginning Tuesday for OBA Finals Tickets. The BA Band will be able to secure a limited number of tickets in the "BA Sectionâ€. Tickets are $10 each and will assigned on a first come, first served basis. Tickets may also be purchased at the stadium on contest day, but can't be guaranteed to be placed in the "BA Section." Place ticket orders with Mrs. Good at the HS Band Office. Tickets will be delivered once we receive them from OBA (typically the week prior to the contest).
From the Finance Office If you updated your Charms with your personal information and email address, you have received a statement last week. As was mentioned in previous eNews, this is part of the Charms rollover process. All deposits, donations, fundraising, Pride work, and student payments are still in the process of being posted, as well as any incidental charges, user fees, tradition fees, and season trip costs. This is a huge process, and as this is a big season for the Pride, it's busier than normal. We appreciate your patience as we progress.
Midwest Clinic There will be a informational meeting for all parents and students regarding the Percussion Ensemble's trip/performance to the Midwest Clinic in December on Monday, September 19th from 6:30-7:00 in the Band Hall. Details regarding trip itinerary, fees, and other trip related items will be discussed; we will see you there!
2016 Pride Payment Schedule: Feb / Mar $250 May $250 June $400 July $400 August $400 September $400 October $400 November $400 December $450 REDUCED to $100 based on current GROUP Fundraising efforts Total $3350 REDUCED to $3000
