Directors Notes
Upcoming Band Concerts There are several concerts this week and next week with opportunities to listen to our Bands of Broken Arrow.
Tuesday, March 1- 7:00pm- Combined Middle School Band Concert Tuesday, March 8 - 7:00pm- Freshman Academy Band Concert Thursday, March 10- 7:00pm- HS Band Concert
Time to Smell the Roses! The Pride of Broken Arrow has been invited to participate in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade on January 2, 2017(The Rose never occurs on a Sunday), pending school board approval. Stay tuned for many more upcoming announcements and details as we begin the fundraising process to send the Pride marching down Colorado Boulevard!
Rose Parade Info for 2016 Pride Season - First Payment of $125 due on March 10 The fundraising process is already in full swing. There are many opportunities to help lower the final payments for ALL prospective Pride members.

This will be a BIG season with a full fall travel schedule to BOA and OBA Contest events as well as the incredible trip to California for the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade! We have heard your suggestions loud and clear and we WILL be flying to California for the Rose Parade trip!!! In order to pay air deposits the first payment for the 2016 season will be due prior to Spring Break on March 10 for $125. All current and prospective Pride members should make arrangements to have $125 as your first payment in your account by March 10. If you are concerned about completing a successful audition to gain 2016 Pride membership, please know that your initial payments are FULLY refundable should you not be among the 2016 membership. A complete detailed payment schedule will be published soon as the details and final trip costs are determined. It is going to be an AMAZING 2016 for the Pride!
Broken Arrow wins the Sudler Shield! At the conclusion of the 2015 Midwest Clinic, the Sousa Foundation announced the winners of the Sudler Shield - an International Award Recognizing High School, Youth and International Marching Bands of World Class Excellence. The Broken Arrow HS band and the Keller HS band were announced as the winners of the 2015 Sudler Shield. A formal award presentation will be made in Broken Arrow with representatives from the Sousa Foundation at the May 9th HS Band Concert. Broken Arrow has now been recognized for this prestigious award on an unprecedented 3 occasions (1998, 2008 and now 2015)!
2014 & 2015 Championship Ring Last Call for Orders! Additional Championship Ring Orders may be placed in the Band Office THIS WEEK. If you were unable to attend last week’s ring order session, you may still get an order in this week by making a $50 deposit (per ring) to “Jostensâ€. All payments will be made directly to Jostens. Should you choose to use funds from you trip account, please contact Mrs. Good to make those arrangements. Order details - Men’s Ring name can be max 12 Characters - Women’s Ring name can be max 8 characters. No Ring Orders may be placed after Friday at 4:00pm.

2015 Pride Color Guard Training Sessions All current color guard members and prospective guard members will begin their training sessions and rehearsals on Friday, March 25 at the HS Band Hall and Gymnasiums from 5:00-8:00pm. Wear comfortable black attire. $30 instructional / participation fee. Sessions run each Friday night until auditions on April 21-22.
Pride Banquet Date - April 29th Banquet Tickets are NOW ON SALE in the band office during normal business hours and band parent meetings. Tickets are $40 each and Pride members receive a free ticket provided all accounts are current (including user fees, Solo & Ensemble contest fees, etc).
OSSAA Solo and Ensemble Contest - March 5 The OSSAA Solo and Ensemble Contest is on Saturday, March 5 at Sapulpa HS. Students will meet at the HS Band Hall to take school transportation to and from the event. Performance times have not been published yet by the OSSAA. We expect ALL HS performances to be during the morning hours. The anticipated schedule will be to depart BAHS at 7:00am and return to BAHS by NOON.
Next Band Parent Meeting Our next band parent meeting will be on Monday, March 7 in the High School Band Hall at 7:00pm.
Indoor Percussion Information Congratulations to Broken Arrow Indoor Percussion- 2016 WGI Dallas Regional Champions! The ensemble won Percussion-Scholastic Open in both Prelims and Finals, with a score in Finals of 81.8. Congratulations to all students and staff on this momentous occasion, winning it's first WGI Regional Championship. A special thank you to the volunteers, band parents for all their work throughout the weekend, as well as to Andrew Hoskins at James Martin HS for hosting us for a rehearsal between performances. The last payment of $250 is due this Tuesday, March 1st; checks can be made to BAHS Band and given to Mrs. Good in the Fine Arts office. Mark your calendars for Monday, March 7th at 8:30 PM for our Send-Off performance in preparation for the WGI Mid-South Regional in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

A Brief Reminder... Every few years, the bylaws of the Broken Arrow Band Parent Association must be reviewed and revised as necessary to ensure they continue to serve the needs of the organization. Proposed bylaws have been posted in the Parent Association section under the “Resources†tab at www.brokenarrowpride.com. Please take a moment to read over these bylaws and be prepared to vote concerning their adoption at our next band parent meeting.
The next regular meeting of the BA Band Parent Association will be held MONDAY, MARCH 7.
ATTENTION 2015 WIND ENSEMBLE GRADUATES The Wind Ensemble of 2015 was awarded Citations of Congratulations from the State of Oklahoma for their performance and selection to the MidWest Band and Orchestra Clinic. These certificates are awaiting pick up in the band office at the high school. Office hours are 7:30am to 4:00pm daily. Please pass along this information to any alum that may not get eNews.

The Amish Jam Fundraiser turn in date has been moved to March 7th to try to help everyone with their first payment of $125 for the 2016 Marching season!
If you have not picked up your Chocolate Almonds, you will have a chance to do so again Thursday, March 3rd from 5:00 to 6:30.
