BA Bands eNews
September 13, 2020
-Directors Notes-
Terrific Performances by the Pride! In the past 3 weeks, we’ve seen some incredible performances by the Pride of the show featuring the music from the iconic British Rock Band Queen. Each of the Pride members are to be congratulated not only for their performances but also for their First Class work ethic! Keep up the GREAT work Pride!
ArrowVision The obstacles and logistics to produce a complete live football game are significant. ArrowVision has been an incredible supporter of the Pride. And, the BA Bands are incredibly gracious for the hard work that they do for the BA Schools. Earlier this season, I (Mr. Davis) gave ArrowVision limited permission to include the Pride halftime performances in their broadcast WHEN THEY CAN. ArrowVision is doing all they can to make that happen. Things happen, challenges exist, and obligations for all that must be included in the Football broadcast are significant. PLEASE be supportive of all aspects of our BA Schools team; including all aspects of a Friday night home game (Spirit Groups, Event Staff, ArrowVision, Football players, and all visiting patrons). When things don’t go as planned, it’s important to be supportive as others work through those challenges.
This season, the Pride has made a focus to embrace and celebrate what we "CAN DO" over what we “DON’T GETâ€.
I (Mr. Davis) will take responsibility for giving the impression that all Pride performances would be broadcast on ArrowVision. What airs on ArrowVision during their livestream broadcast is something I can’t promise. The folks at ArrowVision are great people that LOVE the Pride. Please take time to thank someone for their efforts (even when it doesn’t go as planned). AND, let’s all be FIRST CLASS as our entire organization has always strived to do.
The Pride members, staff and I are looking forward to sharing future performances with each other. However, this is a VERY different year. We should take nothing for granted and celebrate what we “CAN DO†and not dwell on what we “DON’T GETâ€. Thank you for doing everything we can do to uphold our “First Class†philosophy of the Broken Arrow Bands! …and GO PRIDE!!
Staying Vigilant: Parent & Student Help Needed: Face Coverings / Social Distancing Keep in mind as we continue through the season and school year that we should ’not let our guard down’ with the personal precautions we all need to take to remain safe and healthy. We need all to continue to ’self monitor’ your health. Remember, if you feel ill or have potential COVID symptoms, please contact the attendance email and stay home. Continue self monitoring the COVID Survey:
- - Do you have a fever?
- - Do you have a sore throat?
- - Do you have a cough?
- - Do you have a loss of smell or taste?
- - Do you have shortness of breath?
- - Have you had close contact to a positive COVID patient?
- - Record temperature - must be below 100.4
When students are “on task†in rehearsal it is much easier for students to comply and staff to monitor the social distancing and face coverings for our students. However, we are meeting challenges in the time before and after our sessions / rehearsals with students maintaining a 6 foot social distance and wearing their face coverings. We ask all students to be more emphatic (and parents to reinforce with their children) how important this is for the Pride to continue our progress into the 2020 season. This is now the NEW NORM for the CULTURE of our Pride of Broken Arrow. All students must wear their face covering prior to beginning rehearsal and only remove a face covering to drink water (eat) or at the direction of a staff member. Students in their time prior to rehearsals will definitely want to socialize with their friends (this is totally understandable and encouraged), however, it must occur with 6 foot social distancing and face coverings. Thank you for your attention with this matter…

PRESIDENTS Our Car Raffle deadline is approaching quickly! https://go.rallyup.com/2020babandraffle. Because our largest fundraisers (DCI, BAI) were cancelled this year, and concession stand revenues are down 70%, it is imperative that each member maximize this opportunity. Let us know if you need some ideas on ways to sell your required allotment of 10 tickets.
Huge thanks to all those who helped get the season off to a good start. Whether you helped get things ready for a performance, or worked concessions at games, your support is critical for our kids’ success. Here were just some of the past couple of week’s activities: organized and distributed uniform components, fed and watered the students, checked temperatures at arrival, labeled the stadium seats, and stocked the concession stands. Special thanks to the ops guys for making the first game run smooth and the uniform moms for all the work they have been putting in.
Special thanks to those who worked concessions for out two varsity games.

Attention Sophomore and Junior Parents...It’s time to start planning the senior night reception. This is your chance to help pay it forward for your soon to be seniors. If you can serve on this committee to help with decorating, food, or slide show please email me. We will begin having our planning meetings soon!
THANK YOU to the parents who stepped up to help wash uniforms this week. Please return them on Tuesday. You will not need to wash this week, enjoy the break!!!. Please help us maintain social distancing by not standing in the uniform room before/after games. It takes a bit for pride members to be dismissed, put things away, and change after the game. If you are picking up uniforms to wash, plan to wait 20+ minutes after the game before entering the band hall area. Per school policy, anyone entering the building must wear a mask.
