-Directors Notes-
As hard as it has been adjusting to life without students on campus, I am sure it has been equally, if not more, difficult for you to adjust to having your kids at home, quarantined, 24/7. In addition to all of your other roles and responsibilities (cooking, cleaning, parenting, working, etc), you have suddenly become a full time teacher.
We would GLADLY take your kids off your hands if we could.
I wanted to reach out and let you know that as discussions begin as to how and when we reopen our campuses, I am actively working with our administration team to develop solutions that will ensure student safety but also minimize any impact to our incredible band program.
There will be changes. There will be adjustment. But there will be MUSIC.
As more specific information becomes available, we will reach back out and share it with you. In the meantime, please know that our entire band staff is thinking of, and thankful for, you. You are more than a “band†parent, you are someone who is showing your children what grace under fire looks like. … Well, most days. :)
Hang in there and we will have your students out from under your feet and back to making music as soon as we can.

Dr. Stephen Goforth
It is with great sadness that our band family learned of the sudden passing of Dr. Stephen Goforth. Dr. Goforth shared his gift of music with so many of our Broken Arrow students and with countless others across the nation. His passion for music and his positive demeanor were infectious by all who ever knew him. Our hearts go out to the family and friends of this incredible soul.
2020 Pride Color Guard - Virtual Auditions AVAILABLE NOW
The Broken Arrow Colorguard will be hosting video auditions for any students currently in grades 8-11 in the Broken Arrow school district who are interested in becoming a part of a nationally ranked program!
Students who are interested in joining the Pride colorguard will be required to learn a short dance piece from a video and send in a recording of themselves completing the dance piece. There is no previous experience required so the dance piece will be beginner level with a detailed explanation. The deadline to send in your audition video will be May 15th.
We will be using the “BAND†app platform (found in the google or apple app store) to distribute the audition materials as well as provide support to students who are interested in learning. If you/your student is interested in becoming a part of the Pride of Broken Arrow Colorguard for the 2020 season please have them join our band app page.
You can download the “Band†app or visit the website band.us and search for the group “Broken Arrow Colorguard 2020†ask permission to join and a staff member will approve your request. After you request has been approved, you will have access to the audition material and information on how to submit your video as well as plenty of other resources to begin your colorguard journey.

2020 Wind Band Auditions - Via Canvas DUE MONDAY
Wind Band Auditions for the Freshman Academy and the High School are to be completed via video recording submissions in the students’ Canvas “Audition Class.†Auditions are due MONDAY, May 4. All students that complete the audition process are guaranteed a position in a wind band class for 2020. The auditions will be recorded at your home and submitted via “Canvas.†Refer to the instructions that you will soon receive from your band directors. As a reminder, all Broken Arrow FA/HS students must have a Fine Arts credit for graduation to be compliant with the new Oklahoma Graduation requirements.
2020 Pride Horn
Line, Percussion & Drum Major Auditions - AVAILABLE NOW
Due to the current COVID19 suspension of
classes, auditions for the 2020 Price Horn Line, Percussion and Drum Majors
will look differently than they have in the past. The upcoming auditions
will be VIRTUAL auditions with video submissions. Auditions WILL take
place in the coming weeks (following the wind band auditions) for each of these
sections in the 2020 Pride of Broken Arrow.
Virtual Audition materials are NOW AVAILABLE for the 2020 Pride Horn Line & Percussion. Auditions will use a virtual format with Video submission on the NEW “Pride Audition†Class that is currently on the students’ Canvas Dashboard. These auditions include a Music Audition and a Visual Audition that are to be submitted with videos on the Canvas class.
SPECIAL NOTE FOR RETURNING PRIDE VETERANS: Returning Pride Veterans are EXEMPT from submitting a music audition! However, Returning Pride Veterans must complete the "Audition Form†AND the "VISUAL Auditionâ€. The VISUAL Audition will EASY for Pride Veterans; do it and have FUN with it! :)
Spring 2020 Wind Band Trips
We know that you all have questions related to
canceled events, the remainder of this year, and plans for next year. Please
remember that the band staff and I are working on these issues and will be in
touch as our next steps become clearer. We are still working with the
vendors from the Spring Wind Band trips to receive refunds for the at least
portions of those trips. Once we know what the BA Bands will be able to
receive from the payments already made to vendors, we will determine what funds
can be credited to your students accounts (for underclassmen) and make
available refund to graduating seniors. Unfortunately, this will be a
slow process until the nation’s economy reopens and our vendors businesses
resume operations. Please be patient.
Looking Ahead to Fall 2020
Planning
has long been underway for the 2020 season of the Broken Arrow Bands.
The interruption of daily classes on campus haven’t deterred our
process to continue providing “once in a lifetime†experiences through
music in the Broken Arrow Bands. Stay tuned and involved as this distant
learning will, hopefully, allow us to return to meeting our students soon to be
conditioned and ready for a fantastic 2020 season! … and what a GREAT
season it will be to get our Broken Arrow Bands making music together again as soon
as possible!

$12 each with $9 going to individual accounts. Payments must
be made upfront when cards are picked up (cash or check only)

CHOCOLATE FUNDRAISER
- Please email the fundraising email if you would like to purchase
chocolate. Chocolate will be available for purchase at the
Tuesday band parent meeting at 6:00pM before the meeting and again after
the meeting ends. Remember, it is $60 per box paid upfront,
with half of that going into your child's account. Cash/checks
for payment only please. Important to remember - if you turn in money
from selling chocolate, please mark it as a band payment so that it gets

of these opportunities go quickly. The work sign-ups are sent via
